Ann

Challenge: Ann Holman’s Twicycle ChallengeAnn Holman

Aim: To cover 400 miles in a solo cycle challenge

Fundraising Total: £1,300

Ann mapped out the entire route, making all the necessary arrangements to take part in such an event. From ensuring she had all the correct safety gear, accommodation for each night she was away, setting up a Virgin Money Giving Fundraising page and self-promotion using facebook and twitter.

“I'd been meaning to do something challenging for a while and it didn't take ELF long to persuade me to do something mad, especially when they told me about the invaluable work they do with people living with leukaemia! The 400 miles cycling round the South West was an extraordinary experience and the fact that we raised £1,300 made it worth every bit of all the pedalling I did." Ann Holman

Harry

Event: Sponsored Head ShaveHarry with Hair!

Aim: To raise sponsorship and awareness of what many people with leukaemia and lymphoma have to go through when they lose their hair through treatment.

Fundraising Total: £600

Harry was known for his beautiful blonde curls and loved them dearly. A very good friend of Harry’s was receiving treatment for Hodkin’s Lymphoma and as a side effect lost his Harry afterhair. Harry wanted to support his friend and so he offered to give up his beloved dreadlocks and have his head shaved in aid of ELF.

“After many years of having dreadlocks I had grown very fond of them, they were my trademark. However, I don’t regret shaving them off. The response I had was phenomenal. People were so kind to sponsor me and to support a worthy cause” Harry Tombs

Pat & Jon

Challenge: 3 Half Marathon Challenge

Aim: To raise sponsorship and complete 3 half marathons

Fundraising Total: £2,121.84Pat and Jon

Over an eight week period friends Jon Norrish and Pat Duke ran three half marathons to raise money for ELF.

Jon and Pat talk of the importance of this challenge - “The RD&E provided fantastic support to our friend Gary Bowles who lost his fight to leukaemia in December 2010. Signing up to the events and setting up our Virgin money Giving page couldn’t have been easier. We were supported throughout by our family, friends and the ELF team whom provided us with fundraising materials and ELF t-shirts.”
