Volunteer for us

ELF relies on the support of our volunteers for many different occasions. Sometimes we need just a few hours of your time for a one-off event; sometimes we require a long term commitment from volunteers. Whatever the time you have free, or the skills you have to offer please get in touch – we really value your help and couldn’t do what we do without you.

Find out the different ways to get involved below. To register as a volunteer or if you have any questions please call the ELF Office on 01392 493344 or use the Volunteering form.

Events Volunteer

ELF sometimes needs help at our events, whether it be marshalling, managing refreshments, showing people where to park or being on registration. Some of our events are outside so you may need to wrap up warm and be able to stand for an hour or two but just let us know how you would be able to help and we’ll keep you updated. We really couldn’t run some of our events without some amazing volunteers so please do consider donating your time to ELF – we promise to look after you!

Local Promotional Volunteer

Have you lived in your town or village for a long time? Do you know your local shopkeepers and would you be happy to distribute some ELF posters promoting our upcoming events. Whether it be your local library, sports centre, butchers or bakers we need to get the word out about our events. Please register to be one of our local promotional volunteers and we will send you a few posters/leaflets on a monthly basis to put up.

Shop volunteer

Donate your time for just a few hours in one of our shops at the RD&E Hospital or High Street, Crediton – join a friendly team and help ELF with the gift of your time. We will expect you to be able to make a long-term commitment for the sake of organising staff, although this may just be a few hours a week. You will always be supervised by someone on the management team and will be trained where necessary.

Volunteer to be an Official ELF Collector

It is with the help of a fantastic network of volunteers that we are able to manage our collection boxes.  We are always looking for volunteers to help distribute our Collection Boxes and we welcome support from right across the South West.  If you are able to join our team of volunteers and place, empty and replace our collection boxes, then please do contact the office on 01392 493344.

Repairing Seamstress

The charity is vey grateful for the many items of donated clothes it receives. Sometime high quality clothes can not be sold in our shops as they have a defect e.g. broken zip and have to be sold as re-cycled green rags. We are looking for an individual who could repair these items, either in the comfort of their own home or at the ELF Store.

Café ELF - Patient Support

Café ELF is a vital part of our patient care offering in Yarty Ward. At lunchtimes the café can get very busy and the manager could do with some assistance, helping serve customers and washing up. If you are able to help once or twice a week it would be brilliant, with the charity providing any required training.

Ward Trolley Service

The charity is looking to set up a trolley service for in-patients in the Haematology Centre. The individual would be required to offer patients light refreshments, newspapers and the opportunity for a chat.
