Dr Miles Joyner, Consultant Haematologist, retired at the end of March 2010 after 31 years of fantastic service to RD&E Hospital haematology patients. It was Miles’ vision to have a world class Haematology Centre at the RD&E Hospital for the benefit of patients from Devon and beyond.

Without his drive and influence the centre which has made such a fabulous difference to the way in which patients are treated at the RD&E Hospital, would not have been constructed. Miles was instrumental in setting up ELF by encouraging patients and loved ones to get involved and start some fundraising for the old Yarty Ward.

From humble beginnings ELF has become one of the South West’s most respected charities.
