Sir John Evans is the retired Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police. Starting his Police career in Liverpool in 1960, Sir John rose through the ranks to become Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall in 1989 a position he held until his retirement in 2002.

He is actively involved in a number of charitable organisations not least ELF. Over the years he has attended and spoken at numerous functions and events including Holiday on Ice for ELF. In addition he has been involved in organising fundraising for ELF which has raised considerable funds including the successful Auction of Promises.
