Could you join our team of friendly drivers?

30 September 2021

We are seeking a Community Support Driver to join our small and friendly team on an initial two-year contract.

ELF has a fleet of three cars dedicated to assisting haematology patients. Our ELF hospital patient transport service makes it much easier for patients to get to their appointments at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital; it takes away the stress of the journey and the worry and cost of where to park. Treatment can leave haematology patients feeling very fragile. For many, this service is a lifeline as it is the only way to get to and from the hospital.

Our ELF drivers build a personal bond with patients and their families. They offer a friendly face to talk to and a listening ear. Many anxious or isolated patients look forward to their hospital journey as they get to see and talk to somebody about general everyday life. In this respect, the ELF drivers provide much more than a car journey for our patients.

The ELF Community Transport Driver will be required to work 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday. The role requires collecting Haematology patients from their home and transporting them to the RD&E Hospital for appointments/admission. Other duties may include the collection of donations, collecting tins and the delivery of equipment to fundraising events.

Applicants must have held a clean full driving licence for at least five years and have experience in transporting passengers.

For further information or to apply for this role, please contact ELF Charity Manager Samantha Peacock via sam@elfcharity.org.uk or call 01392 493344 (option 5).
