Frontline ELF Team Members David & Marion to take on a Skydive

Two familiar faces from the ELF staff team are taking part in our Group Skydive event at Skydive Buzz in Dunkeswell on Saturday 13th May. David and Marion are both facing their fears to raise funds for the patients they care for on a daily basis, by jumping out of an aeroplane at 15,000ft with 60 seconds freefall.

David is the senior driver in our Transport Service, whose daily role is to safely deliver haematology patients to and from their appointments at the RD&E Hospital from all over Devon.

"As this is my ten-year anniversary working for ELF, I wanted to mark the milestone with a challenge to celebrate my service with our amazing local charity. We would be delighted to receive any donation that you would like to make towards our exciting fundraising event"

Marion is ELF's Patient Liaison and is well known to patients and relatives as she operates from our Filling Time kiosk at the hospital. Hers is the first ELF face that patients encounter as they await their Haematology appointments or treatment on the Yarty ward Day Case unit.

"ELF is very important to me. My mother was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2016 and I can appreciate first-hand the impact of diagnosis and treatment. I am taking part in the skydive in recognition of all the patients and relatives I have had the pleasure to meet - both their inspiration and their resilience. I have never done anything like this before and I don't even like heights, so I am very nervous but also super excited!! I wish to prove that even though I'm in my sixties now with four grandchildren - age is just a number!"

David and Marion have already an amazing £1,775 in sponsorship. They will be joining ten other brave supporters jumping for ELF and we look forward to sharing with you their success and experiences on the big day.
