Alongside our daily services for those attending the RD&E's Haematology Centre with a blood cancer or blood condition, ELF is on hand to provide Yarty ward and the hard-working NHS staff with any equipment or facilities that will benefit the patients in their care.

At the end of 2022, we provided £20,000 for the purchase of an ultrasound machine to help the nursing team insert cannulas. Previously, there was just one machine used for this process, which was shared across all departments within the hospital. This meant extended and uncomfortable waiting times for Yarty patients in need of this procedure. The new machine funded by ELF lives on Yarty ward and helps speed up the process, decreasing patient waiting time and discomfort.

In September, we purchased new plants and pots to brighten and refresh the Chevithorne Suite garden. The family suite's construction was fully funded by ELF in 2017, providing a welcoming and comfortable space for relatives to stay with their loved ones on the ward. The suite consists of a twin bedroom, lounge, kitchen, bathroom and it's own private garden, all attached to a critical care unit for families to use at a time of need.

This month, we are currently supporting Haematology Consultant Dr Tony Todd with the production of information videos for patients and their families. The videos aim to offer clear explanations to patients and their loved ones about their diagnosis and what to expect from treatment.

Your donations have funded these projects and more. Our sincere thanks to our wonderful supporters for their generosity and continued support.
