Tony braves the shave for ELF

On Friday 14th April, ELF supporter Tony Rowe had his hair and beard shaved off to raise money for patients and families living in Devon affected by blood cancer.

Tony decided to raise money for ELF in memory of his late father and also in support of a family friend who is currently being treated at the Haematology Centre. He began growing his hair and beard in October 2022 and set himself the target of six months growth before 'braving the shave'.

Tony said: "I decided to raise money for ELF as I know how fantastic the charity is and what they do to help blood cancer patients and their families. They do a fantastic job supporting families from diagnosis, through treatment and after, as well as purchasing equipment which is used on Yarty ward. ELF means a lot to me as I lost my dad to cancer; he had blood cancer and skin cancer. I also have a family friend (Conor) who is battling blood cancer now."

Cheered on by family and friends, Tony had his hair and beard shaved off at Sorella Hair and Beauty in PaigntonHeadshave Supporter by Conor's sister Niamh, and with a little help from his granddaughter. Our sincere thanks to Tony, who to date has raised a brilliant £1,300 for ELF in this challenge. Money which will be used to fund our vital patient services for people with blood cancer in Paignton and across the region. We love the new look, and Tony's wife was very happy to see him emerge from under the hair!
