A welcome return for the ELF Filling Time kiosk

After an enforced closure for the past two years because of the Covid 19 pandemic, we were delighted to reopen our Filling Time kiosk on the 11th February.

Anyone who is waiting in the Haematology Centre is welcome to free refreshments from Filling Time. Situated in the Reception area, the kiosk serves free tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water and biscuits to patients and family members as they await their clinical and Day Case appointments.

Filling Time is staffed by a friendly team of ELF volunteers. As well as providing refreshments, our volunteers play a key role in educating patients about Exeter Leukaemia Fund and the availibility of our vital support services.

From the outpouring of supportive messages on social media, it is clear how much Filling Time has been missed:

Amazing ...glad it's open again it was always vital to our family when staying at Yarty xx 💚

Such good news and I will volunteer when it is safe to do. How exciting we really missed it. Thank you to all the volunteers!

Oh the best news so badly missed by us all who use Yarty thank you to all the wonderful people who volunteer xxxx

Love this! Haematology waiting room feels so different with a friendly face in the kiosk. Thank you volunteers 💚

This is great news, will be lovely to see if open again and great for raising awareness of the services provided. Hope one day I might be able to volunteer myself.

Filling Time is currently open from 10am until 2pm on a Monday, Thursday, and Friday. If you would like to become a regular volunteer at the kiosk then we would love to hear from you!
